A delicate floral karakusa komon kimono in shades of pale lavender-grey.
This pretty unused komon (small print) kimono has a dense all-over floral karakusa design with a white silk lining and blue bokashi (ombre) silk hakkake (the inner cuff and hem of the lining). Karakusa (literally a foreign or winding plant) is an ancient arabesque pattern brought to Japan from the middle east is comprised of spirals influenced by vines and other natural forms.
Komon, literally ko (small) mon (pattern) are casual kimono worn for going out or casual gatherings that often have a small all-over print, but may also have stripes, checks or larger all over patterns.
